The New England Water Environment Association
The New England Water Environment Association (NEWEA) hosted a joint specialty conference sponsored by their Asset Management and Energy Management committees at the Anheuser Busch Conference Facility in Merrimack New Hampshire on April 11 & 12. John presented as the Keynote Speaker on April 11th from 1:00 – 1:45 PM on his book “Why Execution Fails and What to Do About It”. More info can be found at www.newea.org.

The RELIABILITY Conference
The RELIABILITY Conference (TRC), one of the most significant reliability venues in 2018 was held between April 23-27, 2018 in Las Vegas, NV at the South Point Hotel and Casino. More info can be found at www.reliabilityweb.com. John’s 2nd Edition Book Release and Signing on “Why Execution Fails and What to Do About It” was held at this event!! In this revised edition, there is an added focus on the executive sponsor role. As a key stakeholder for supporting corporate initiatives, there is little to no guidance or training provided for this role.

The new Chapter 4 titled “The ART of Executive Sponsorship” promises to provide a robust framework that will help formalize and operationalize this critical role to coordinate, own and drive change efforts to successful completion.

The International Maintenance Conference

The International Maintenance Conference (IMC) held its 33rd annual event at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point in Bonita Springs, FL on December 9-14. John co-presented on two (2) events:
​
1) Along with Laith Alfaqih from STANTEC, a 45-minute presentation was held on “A Roadmap for Designing and Implementing Your Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) with the End in Mind”. John and Laith co-led a transportation research project and the presentation is based on their research documented in ACRP Research Report #155 Guidebook for Advanced CMMS Integration at Airports. 2) Along with his wife and wellness nurse, Trish Fortin, RN they led a 3-hour workshop on “A Framework for Self-Management - The Reliable YOU” that detailed a Framework for Self-Management focusing on creating "The Reliable YOU" focused on Health & Wellness programs for us humans. The fun and interactive session helped attendees understand how to get organized and understand the elements and tools that make up this self-management framework including topics such as; good nutrition, exercise, stress reduction, medication management, and self-care.
